Aesthetic surgery aims to improve the external appearance of the patient from an aesthetic point of view. In general, plastic surgery procedures are not medically indicated to improve health but serve to beautify the human body.
However, in most cases, the transitions between aesthetic and medical motivations for such treatment overlap with one another which is why a holistic approach is always a reasonable measure.
Our surgeons within the field of plastic surgery are aware of their responsibility and only conduct aesthetic procedures if these are commensurate with the general health of the patients.
In addition to aesthetic procedures the Hirslanden plastic surgeons also perform reconstructive surgeries to restore the (initial) body form, including its related functions.
Especially after severe burns, accidents or diseases, reconstructive surgery is of great relevance. For patients, surgical treatment often means a return to a positive self-image as well.
Reconstructive surgery also plays an important role in congenital physical disabilities.
Outpatient and Inpatient Procedures
Depending on the type of surgery, the treatment is carried out on an outpatient or inpatient basis. In the case of outpatient procedures, patients can leave the clinic on the same day of the procedure. For minor procedures, patients can choose between an ambulatory or inpatient procedure.
For high-risk patients or more complex surgeries, inpatient treatment is the only option. After the surgery, patients spend a few nights in a comfortable single room and receive comprehensive care from our Hirslanden nursing staff.
